RESUMEN

El plástico, omnipresente en la sociedad desde hace un siglo, ha generado una crisis medioambiental en los últimos cinco años. Científicos estiman que hay alrededor de 5 billones de plásticos en los océanos, y estiman que, hacia 2050, habrá más plástico que peces en los ecosistemas marinos. Este trabajo pretende determinar la cantidad de MP en la sal de mesa que se comercializa en la ciudad de Cieza, así como evaluar la contaminación en los mares de origen de dichas sales. Este estudio destaca la importancia de comprender y abordar la presencia de MP en productos cotidianos, subrayando la necesidad de conciencia sobre la contaminación y sus implicaciones en la cadena alimentaria. Se realizaron experimentos para determinar la presencia de MP en la sal. Mediante el material utilizado y los registros documentales, se pudo concluir que existían partículas no correspondientes con la Sal en todas ellas, así como la sorprendente contaminación por MP en los mares y océanos que bañan la península Ibérica.

ABSTRACT

Plastic, ubiquitous in society for a century, has created an environmental crisis in the last five years. Scientists esti-mate that there are around 5 trillion plastics in the oceans and estimate that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in marine ecosystems. This work aims to determine the amount of microplastics in table salt marketed in the city of Cieza, as well as to assess the pollution in the seas of origin of these salts. This study highlights the importance of understanding and addressing the presence of microplastics in everyday products, underlining the need for awareness of contamination and its implications in the food chain. Experiments were carried out to determine the presence of microplastics in salt. Through the material used and documentary records, it was possible to conclude that there were particles not corresponding to salt in all of them, as well as the surprising contamination by microplastics in the seas and oceans that bathe the Iberian Peninsula.
